New Jersey Knights Vintage Logo Shirt - Retro Defunct Hockey Shirt

The Jersey Knights are one of the wildest stories in professional hockey history. The franchise began as the New York Raiders — a charter member of the World Hockey Association in 1972 — before being renamed the New York Golden Blades at the start of the 1973-74 season. When financial disaster struck and the team was locked out of Madison Square Garden, the WHA relocated the franchise to Cherry Hill, New Jersey, where they became the Jersey Knights and played at the infamous Cherry Hill Arena. The arena's ice surface had a noticeable slope in the middle, forcing visiting teams to literally skate uphill for two out of three periods. Players couldn't even take their Golden Blades jerseys with them and had to slap the new Knights logo onto old Raiders uniforms. Despite the chaos, the Knights played competitive hockey and featured WHA scoring leader Andre Lacroix. After one season in New Jersey, the franchise packed up again and headed to San Diego as the Mariners.
