Collins threw with a combination of velocity and touch that made him the fifth overall pick in the 1995 NFL Draft. Ki-Jana Carter was the explosive tailback who hit the hole like a missile — 1,539 rushing yards and 23 touchdowns on the season, including a performance against Oregon in the Rose Bowl where he ripped off a 83-yard touchdown run on the very first play from scrimmage. Carter was the first overall pick in the 1995 Draft. Joe Paterno's 1994 Penn State team was an offensive powerhouse that averaged over 47 points per game, and the only thing that kept them from the national championship was a split vote that gave Nebraska the title.
